14u Take 2nd in Palos Heights

2015 14u Memorial Day Tournament Team

The OPRF 14u team took 2nd in the Memorial Day Tournament in Palos Heights. The team went 2-1 in pool play on Saturday and Sunday which allowed them to secure a berth in the semi finals on Monday. After a 2 hour rain delay on Monday, the team showed no hesitation. Chris Hugh went yard to help break open the game, but ended his day after being hit by a pitch on the elbow in his third at-bat. 

In the championship game, Thomas Waith hit the first pitch of the game out of the park to set the tone early. Michael Perla hit a 3 run blast to help secure a 3 run lead for the team. In the late innings, the host team changed up strategies and executed a series of small ball tactics that allowed them to take the lead and eventually win out on the day.
